Import Markdown
Vaults welcome.
Your vault is already in the best format there is. Drop the .md files in, or zip the vault to keep folders and embedded images.
How it works
- 1
Find your vault folder
An Obsidian vault is just a folder of .md files - locate it in Finder or Explorer.
- 2
Zip it (optional but better)
A zip preserves your folder structure as notebooks and brings embedded images along.
- 3
Drop it into Cimanote
Up to 200 loose files at once, or one zip with everything.
What carries over
The honest version - what arrives intact, what changes shape, and what cannot make the trip.
Common questions
What happens to my [[wiki-links]]?
They arrive as plain text. Cimanote's Knowledge Engine builds connections between notes automatically instead, based on what the notes actually say.
Do YAML frontmatter fields survive?
Tags map to Cimanote tags, dates map to note dates, and source URLs are kept. Other fields stay in the note body.
Coming from somewhere else? See all import guides or the Import & Export overview.
Ready to leave the folder juggling behind?
Import is free on every account. Your notes, plus a Knowledge Engine that connects them.
